This Week: May 18th-May 22ndSummer Week 1 Recipe: Homemade PancakesDifficulty: EasyNote: This recipe is one that my 7th grade Individual Development students love to make! Not only is it easy, but it practices measuring, patience and meal preparation! There are many ways to spice up this dish and make it your own. You can add chocolate chips, strawberries, blueberries and much more into the batter! Here is a tip: if you are making your pancakes in a pan on the stove top, continue to decrease the temperature as you cook. Your pan will retain heat and the pancakes will get more and more burnt if you do not adjust. Have fun and feel free to share how your cooking goes in the comments below!!

This Week: May 11th-May 15thWeek 7 Recipe: FudgeDifficulty: EasyKey Terms:
Notes: This recipe is very simple but can easily be messed up. Be very careful and slow when melting your chocolate. It can go from perfectly smooth to crumbly and burnt very quickly. Have fun with toppings and different additive ingredients! As always, feel free to share your learning and final products pictures with us in the comment section below!!
This Week: May 11th-May 15thWeek 7 Recipe: Zuppa TocsanaDifficulty: Medium-HardNote: I thought that it was fitting to assign a more difficult recipe as it is our last week of school at THS. If you have been following along with the lessons each week, I hope that you feel your knowledge and culinary skills have improved (while making fun memories of course!). If you have ever been to Olive Garden, there is a chance that you have tried the Zuppa Toscana. This recipe is a "dupe" of the restaurants recipe. If you are looking to impress others with a delicious soup/stew, this is the recipe for you! It is savor and rich while containing nearly every MyPlate food group. A tip I have for you is to either give yourself time to prep your ingredients for this dish, or have a helper! Remember your knife skills, measure properly and keep clean! Have fun and enjoy! PS: if you are not a fan of Italian sausage, replace it with your desired heat of Jimmy Dean sausage.
